About Indonesian Workers
Indonesia has a population of approximately 248 million, spread across more than 10,000 islands of various sizes. Generally, Indonesians are friendly, impartial, and cooperative. They are polite, which allows them to build good relationships with Japanese colleagues.
They are also highly enthusiastic about learning Japanese, with some trainees continuing their studies independently. Even when corrected, they can apologize sincerely and reflect on their actions. Additionally, due to their optimistic nature, they do not dwell on the past. This enables the development of positive and harmonious relationships between host companies and technical interns.
What is the Specified Skilled Worker?
The Act to Partially Amend the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act and the Ministry of Justice Establishment Act, which establishes the new residence status of "Specified Skilled Worker," has been passed and enacted, making it possible to accept new foreign human resources under this status from April 1, 2019, in industries experiencing serious labor shortages.
The system for this "Specified Skilled Worker" residence status is designed to address the worsening labor shortages faced by small and medium-sized businesses and other industries by accepting foreign nationals who possess a certain level of expertise and skills and can be immediately put to work in industries where it is still difficult to secure human resources despite efforts to improve productivity and secure domestic human resources.
